I live in Pattaya. The guy who wrote this salacious trash is creepy, has no respect for anyone - especially for Thai women, and ought not to be allowed out without a chaperone. The women and girls in the sex trade in this part of the world are people, human beings, actually - most trying their best to make a living and support their families - often a small kid. Thai men drop wives and girlfriends at the at the first hint they need to act responsibly. For the girls and women in the business, the sex trade is their job. There are no (i.e.zero), hang-ups left over from the Puritans, Victorians or the Catholic Church. That said, no place else in the world tolerates the female children of the poor selling themselves and sending the money home. For much of Isaan, the poor province in the north east, the practice is ingrained in the culture. The writer obviously knows the City, but not that well. No western visitor who knows the town stays at The Base - Chinese overrun the place. His prices for "services" are inflated by a third or more. Thai women have come to Pattaya in search of a ticket out of poverty since the Vietnam War - some white guy is often the ticket and in many cases everybody is happy. There are Thai women all over the world who got out and are happily settled with western husbands on other parts of the world. A Thai woman will show loyalty and affection beyond your dreams if you find one and treat her with respect and as a friend. The writer hints at that, but then dumps any girl who might actually like him as some sort of game or revenge for an unidentified slight. No wonder this writer spends his time and holidays alone. What a sweetheart.There are many, many better books about Thailand and Pattaya than this and you won't feel like you need to fumigate yourself after getting through this one.
